Some of the handbell group
taken in The Cross, Dunkeld
The group was formed in October, 2002 and is now
one of the largest and most active groups in Scotland. They have performed
throughout Perthshire and beyond, ringing in Nursing Homes, Day Centres and
Garden Centres, for Guilds, Rurals, Craft Fairs, Flower Festivals and have
participated in Church services. They have been recorded for Hospital Radio
Perth and provided entertainment at such notable venues as Perth Concert Hall, Scone
Palace and Dundee Flower Show. Since its formation, the group has raised over
£1000 each year for the benefit of local charities.
The group is led by Heather I McLean who is
also one of the country's few handbell soloists. Heather is in much demand for
solo performances and rings in Dunkeld Cathedral on Wednesday afternoons
throughout the summer.
